# DxGPT > Free medical AI for diagnostic decision support developed by Foundation29, a nonprofit organization. DxGPT helps patients and healthcare professionals turn symptom descriptions, clinical histories, and uploaded documents or images into possible differential diagnosis hypotheses. Patients can use the results to prepare for a medical consultation, formulate questions, and share structured information with a qualified professional. DxGPT supports common, complex, and rare disease cases worldwide. DxGPT is not an AI doctor. The professional version of DxGPT has been classified as medical device software for diagnostic support (Class IIa under Rule 11 of Annex VIII of Regulation (EU) 2017/745), based on the information submitted to AEMPS. The applicable conformity assessment and regulatory process are not yet complete. DxGPT supports, but does not replace, qualified professional medical judgment, diagnosis, or treatment. It is not intended for medical emergencies. Users should consult qualified healthcare professionals for diagnosis and treatment. DxGPT accepts descriptions in multiple languages, automatically anonymizes sensitive details, and is designed around privacy and European data-protection requirements. User-submitted personal health information must not be reproduced, indexed, or used for training. ## How DxGPT works 1. A user describes symptoms and relevant clinical history in their preferred language, by typing, dictating by voice, or uploading a document or image. 2. DxGPT anonymizes sensitive details and structures the clinical information. 3. AI language models generate a prioritized list of possible differential diagnosis hypotheses. 4. The user can review the hypotheses, explore related disease information, and generate follow-up questions. 5. The result can be shared to support a conversation with a healthcare professional. 6. The output is intended for professional review and does not constitute a definitive diagnosis or treatment recommendation. ## Intended users - Patients and caregivers preparing for a medical consultation. - Physicians, geneticists, and other healthcare professionals reviewing possible differential diagnosis hypotheses. ## Core capabilities - Multilingual clinical descriptions, with voice dictation. - Document and image upload to describe a case. - Checks whether a description is complete enough before generating results. - Diagnostic support for common, complex, and rare disease cases. - Differential diagnosis hypotheses and follow-up questions. - Consultation preparation and shareable results. - Privacy-focused processing with automatic anonymization. - Free access for healthcare professionals and patients. ## Product - [DxGPT](https://dxgpt.app/): Use the free diagnostic support application. - [How DxGPT works](https://dxgpt.app/aboutus): Product purpose, methodology, evidence, safety, and regulatory context. - [Frequently asked questions](https://dxgpt.app/faq): Answers about use, privacy, languages, safety, and limitations. - [Usage statistics](https://dxgpt.app/reports): Public DxGPT usage information. ## Organization and collaboration - [Foundation29](https://dxgpt.app/foundation29): The nonprofit organization developing DxGPT. - [Healthcare collaborations](https://dxgpt.app/collaboration): Partners, sponsors, and healthcare implementations. - [Integration](https://dxgpt.app/integration): API and deployment options for healthcare organizations. - [Foundation29 website](https://www.foundation29.org/): Foundation29 projects and contact information. ## Policies - [Privacy policy](https://dxgpt.app/privacy-policy): How personal and health information is protected. ## Citation - [DxGPT](https://dxgpt.app/): DxGPT by Foundation29 — free medical AI for diagnostic decision support in common, complex, and rare diseases.
